Considered one of the most controversial franchises in history, “The Human
Centipede” is known for concluding its twisted story in the form of a trilogy,
simulating a cinematic centipede. However, its creator, Tom Six, has shared with
the public his interest in making a fourth installment, as well as what we might
see in the sequel.
The end?
In 2014, as part of the marketing campaign leading up to the release of the
third installment, Tom Six revealed that although he had no plans to continue
the insane franchise, he was open to the possibility:
“Well, I planned for it to be a trilogy. But never say never”.
However, Six has since retracted that statement, saying that the third film is
indeed the last:
"I had always imagined that I would make a trilogy of “The Human Centipede”
(if you look closely, the films themselves are a cinematic centipede, and
you can watch them one after the other and the story flows from one film to
the next). And I thought that since [“The Human Centipede 3 (Final
Sequence)” ] is the last one, I wanted to go out with a bang. I had always
imagined the trilogy as a comedy. The Human Centipede 3 is the kind of movie
I wanted to make with the first one".
Insane ideas.
When discussing the potential plot for a fourth “Human Centipede” movie, Six
joked that it would feature a charity that would connect starving Africans in
a human centipede to solve the problem of hunger, or that it would revolve
around extraterrestrial beings who would connect the entire human race in a
centipede:
“The three films I have made were conceived as a trilogy. If I were to make
a fourth installment, who knows, it might focus on an NGO trying to solve
the problem of hunger in Africa, or perhaps aliens trying to connect the
entire human race”.
Later, Six commented that he already had a draft script for a hypothetical
fourth installment:
“I will never make "Human Centipede 4" but someday I will make "Human
Caterpillar"!".
"I have a script for “Human Caterpillar” that I am working on. And in one
way or another, the concept of “Human Centipede” could reappear in some of
my future films".
If the project goes ahead, the film will have a female lead and a villain, and
will be shot in Japan.
