Hòa thượng Thích Quảng Ðức was a Vietnamese Mahāyāna Buddhist monk who, as a form of protest against systematic injustices towards Buddhism in South Vietnam, decided to burn himself to death on a busy street in Saigon, Vietnam, on June 11, 1963.
