"Häxan" ("Witchcraft Through the Ages") is a Swedish-Danish silent Horror film
completed in 1920 and released in 1922, written and directed by Benjamin
Christensen and financed by the Swedish production company Svensk Filmindustri.
The film is listed as the most expensive Scandinavian silent film ever made, as
well as being banned in the United States and heavily censored in other
countries for what were considered at the time to be graphic depictions of
torture, nudity, and sexual perversion.
