"Mors in Tabula" ("Death on the table") is the name given to the first short
film made by Marian Dora for the horror anthology “The Profane Exhibit”.
Original segment that had to be discarded and replaced by the version seen in
the final feature film product for going too far.
Synopsis.
A woman is diagnosed with cancer and there is no hope for her. She is
suffering greatly from her desperate situation, especially as she has a young
son and a husband. A doctor offers her an operation as a kind of “last hope”.
However, the doctor does not plan to help her and has something else in mind
for the doomed woman...
Description.
At 14 minutes long, the short film presents the agonizing situation of a
mother suffering from terminal colon cancer who goes to a doctor who promises
to perform an operation that will cure her.
Once the operation takes place, the doctor rummages inside the woman's body,
stabs her organs and, at the moment she dies, masturbates and ejaculates
inside the open woman. This takes place by means of interspersed shots of the
husband and the young son, who are waiting outside.
Discarded.
In Dora's own words, “Mors in tabula 1” was discarded by himself in
conjunction with Unearthed Films, due to excesses that could have had legal
consequences in the United States.
Eventually, the short film was replaced by a second version showing the
euthanasia process of a child during Nazi Germany.
