Edward T. Lowe, Jr. and Perley Poore Sheehan and directed by Wallace Worsley
for Universal Pictures. Based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name and
featuring the iconic Lon Chaney, the feature film established itself as
Universal's most successful silent film.
Synopsis.
A marginalized hunchback named Quasimodo lives confined in Notre Dame
Cathedral, where he is exploited by the ruthless Jehan Frollo. When the
beautiful gypsy Esmeralda is unjustly accused, Quasimodo defies his destiny to
protect her, confronting the cruelty of society and revealing his hidden
humanity.
