On February 16, 2009, Charla Nash, a friend and employee of Sandra Herold, arrived at Sandra's residence to help her control her faithful friend Travis, a domesticated chimpanzee. Unfortunately for Charla, the animal lunged at her, severely mauling her to the point of tearing off her hands and face.
