“In the Dark” is an independent Horror film in the SOV (Shot on Video) format
from 2000, written and directed by Clifton Holmes and produced alongside his
brother Dwayne Holmes. The film is notable for having been screened at film
festivals before post-production was complete, and subsequently forgotten, as
well as being an independent adaptation of Richard Laymon’s novel of the same
name, which was authorized and endorsed by the author himself.
Synopsis.
Jane, a lonely librarian, finds herself caught up in a sinister game devised
by a mysterious “Master of Games,” who leaves her envelopes of money in
exchange for completing tasks that grow increasingly degrading, twisted, and
violent.

A sinister and depraved treasure hunt, effectively portrayed and amplified by
the low budget.
