“UFO Abduction” (also known as “The McPherson Tape”) is a 1989 American
Found-Footage Horror film written and directed by Dean Alioto and produced by
IndieSyndicate Productions. Made on a micro-budget of $6,500 dls, the film
faced major distribution hurdles following the bankruptcy of AIP Home Video
(Action International Pictures). As a result, it circulated clandestinely on
VHS tapes, gaining cult status before inspiring a 1998 television remake by
the same director, produced by Dick Clark Productions and titled “Alien
Abduction: Incident in Lake County.”
Synopsis.
A birthday party brings a family together on the night of the celebration.
After a power outage, they discover that it was caused by an alien spacecraft
landing near the house. That's when the nightmare begins as they are attacked
by the “gray” beings, all of which is filmed by one of the sons' cameras.
What will you find?
A low-budget masterclass in hyperrealism that seamlessly blurs the line
between fiction and reality.
